The UKTMN are passionate about recognising the vital input a trial management professional provides to the success of a trial, and to make sure all those involved in trials in the UK recognise this too.
As you may know, each year we award the title of Trial Manager of the Year to a deserving nominee. The Trial Manager of the Year initiative was launched in 2020 to increase awareness and recognition of the pivotal role trial management professionals play in the clinical trial community. It allowed peers and colleagues to formally recognise the hard work and dedication of a trial management professional and provides a platform to celebrate success.
While this award will continue, we recognise that there are other ways in which trial management professionals can be celebrated for their contributions and receive the recognition they deserve. With this in mind, we are introducing several new categories within the new UKTMN Awards scheme.
The new UKTMN Award categories will be:
- Trial Manager of the Year: an overall ability to go above and beyond in their role, showing clear examples of leadership, innovation, PPI championing, inclusion/EDI impact and mentorship to others.
- Innovation Award: the use of innovative and creative methods to identify and overcome challenges in managing trials.
- Leadership Award: excellent leadership of a team or individual and describing what impact their leadership has had.
- PPI Champion: excellence in leading and working with PPI groups/representatives and what impact their work has had.
- Research inclusion/EDI champion: excellence in leading inclusion and EDI activities within their trial or working environment and demonstrates what impact their work has had
- Rising star: excellence in their role and is early in their trial management career.
- The Barbara Farrell award: a clear positive impact on a colleague or team as a mentor, honouring the positive impact Barbara Farrell had on the trial management community as a founding member of the UKTMN and advocate for trial management.
We hope the new award categories will shine a spotlight on the invaluable contributions trial management professionals make to the trial landscape and those around them and expand recognition of the role.
Nominations for the UKTMN awards will open in October. We will provide a short online nomination form, which can be completed by someone in any role, and we encourage nominations to include ‘supporters’ too so we can better understand the impact of the nomination.
We will share more details about the nomination process in due course.
